Last week Congress changed the date for the analog to digital switch over for TV broadcasters from February 17th to June 12th.
The reason’s appear to be that somewhere in the neighborhood of 6 million people still have not gotten the $40.00 coupon from the government because they ran out of money to pay for the coupons.
As part of the stimulus bill that just passed $650 million dollars was allocated to complete the distribution of the coupons and educate people of the switch.
The problem is that the change made by Congress allows TV stations to make the change any time on or after February 17th.
Duh, then what was the purpose of changing to June 12th if a lot of stations are going to switch anyway? That, leaving people with older TV who do not have cable or satellite service with nothing to watch except static.
