How to Fix Corrupted iTunes
From the Mailbox:
Hi,
I listen to you every wed night on wgn…and learn ALOT from you. thanks for doing what you do. I have a friend that has a Dell laptop. he asked me to help him get it running better. I downloaded and installed Avast…and also Malwarebytes remover. His computer is running like new ( his words not mine) he is very pleased with it. However now he is unable to open Itunes. when he tries to he gets these error messages…
#1 : The application or DLL C:\ProgramFiles\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\libxml2.dll is not a valid windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette.
#2: iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows Error 193)
I have tried uninstalling and redownloading itunes…and still get this same message.
Is this a easy fix?
Thanks a bunch for your help
Keith

Dear Keith,
Thank you for listening to the show every Wednesday night and I’m glad we are able to help you learn a lot. I’m also happy that you are able to help your friend get his computer running smoothly again using the tools on my website.
As for your question, it appears that iTunes is corrupt and that you took the proper steps but may have missed a few things.
The first thing I would do is uninstall iTunes using the Revo uninstaller, which you can find in the downloads section of my website, savedmybutt.com. Make sure that you choose the advanced mode during the uninstall and delete all registry entries that are displayed and remaining files that are displayed during the search for leftover items phase.
The following programs need to be removed using Revo:
iTunes
QuickTime
Apple software update
Apple mobile device support
Bonjour
Apple application support for iTunes 9 or later
Once all these programs have been removed and download and install a new copy of iTunes and see what happens.
This should work on all versions of Windows.

This saved me after an enitre night of hassles. Thank you so much!!!!! Cheers
