HP Laptop Battery Recall

On Thursday, May 14th, HP issued a recall of laptop batteries for certain models in both the HP and Compaq lines for safety issues that involve over heating.

Last October HP issued a recall of laptop batteries made by Sony which were made in Japan.  This recall does not name the manufacturer of the batteries by indicate that they were made in China.

To find out if you own one of the laptops that have a battery on the recall list you can check the list of models on the following HP web page:

The validation steps are a bit complicated.  Scroll down the page and follow the instructions.  By filling in the blanks with the proper information, you will discover if your battery is on the recall and be given instructions on how to participate in the recall.

If you have any questions, you can contact HP support from the Support Link at the top of their website page.
