Google Gmail Priority Inbox

September 3, 2010

Are you using Google’s Gmail for your email?  I am.  As a matter of fact, all of the email addresses I use are forwarded to my Gmail account.  It makes it easier to manage all of that email.

Google has started a new feature of Gmail called Priority Inbox.  You may not see it on your Gmail page yet, but you will as its slowly enabled around the world.

What does it do?  Not only will you see a link to your Inbox on the menu at the left, you will also see a link called Priority Inbox.

Gmail watches what email you read and answer.  Then it puts new emails from those senders at the top of your email list.  Instead of scrolling through all of your emails to find the ones you really want to read, not they will be right at the top.  The more you use this the better it gets as Gmail learns your email habits.

Take a look at this video which explains it nicely, http://mail.google.com/mail/help/priority-inbox.html

Google Chrome Upgrade to 6.0.472.53

September 3, 2010

Google has released a new version of their Chrome browser.  This upgrade boasts of even faster javascript processesing and other features that seem to speed up your web browsing experience as well as some security updates.

One of the biggest features that you will notice is the change in the menu system in the upper right corner.  Now, there is only the little wrench tool which opens the menu.  Take a look around.  Some items have been moved around.

To upgrade from the current version:

1.  Click on the little wrench tool to open the menu.

2.  Click on About Google Chrome.

3.  If you see a button that says Upgrade Available, click on it.

After the update is done, you will be asked to close Chrome and restart it for the changes to take effect.

So far in my experience with the new Chrome Browser, it does seem faster.

August 31, 2010

From the Mailbox:

Hi,

I listen to you every wed night on wgn…and learn ALOT from you. thanks for doing what you do. I have a friend that has a Dell laptop. he asked me to help him get it running better. I downloaded and installed Avast…and also Malwarebytes remover. His computer is running like new ( his words not mine) he is very pleased with it. However now he is unable to open Itunes. when he tries to he gets these error messages…

#1 :  The application or DLL C:\ProgramFiles\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\libxml2.dll is not a valid windows image.  Please check this against your installation diskette.

#2:  iTunes was not installed correctly.  Please reinstall iTunes.  Error 7 (Windows Error 193)
I have tried uninstalling and redownloading itunes…and still get this same message.

Is this a easy fix?

Thanks a bunch for your help
